The FREE tatting pattern for this beautiful Christmas ornament was created by Jennifer Williams of Cariad Tatting!
This pattern is designed for Christmas ball that has a circumference of 7-1/2 inches.
Size 20 thread is recommended, and other sizes likely won’t get you a snug fit, so it is highly recommended that you use Size 20 thread.
The only techniques you need to know for this one include a ring, chain, picot, close ring, reverse work, and join.
This is a pattern that requires just one shuttle. It is recommended that you wind your shuttle with about 1 meter (about 39.3 inches) of Size 20 thread, and do not cut, because of course you will need to use the ball thread also.
One thing to keep in mind with this tatting project is that as you go along, the tatting is not supposed to lie flat.
